Best Sukkah?

I got something from Sunlite. All the hardware stores were pushing that.

It's rated for damp location, not as waterproof. I'm not saying it's okay for it to conk out at first drop, but it's not intended to power through water pooling in the light.

I know of a lieters sukkah that collapsed on shabbos. The winds where very strong.

I've gotten a few questions about the construction of the succah I posted earlier so here are some pictures of various aspects of its construction.



Total size is 24x14

There is a frame built into the deck which stays up all year as well as a support for the schach. The light fixtures are outdoor fixtures which also stay up all year.



This part stays up against the house all year as well.



Here you can see the way the light is set up with a two gang switch in an outdoor box with a plug attached to the existing outdoor outlet allowing us to attach a timer.



Panels on the top and bottom are held in place by turn buckles



The bottom panels have 2 on each side while the top ones have one since the top slides into a slot.



The bottom of the door stays up all year while the top get screwed on each year




I see that the hinge got bent this year-probably by my two year old who figured out how to open the top without the bottom



The bottom door panel is held on by attaching two pieces of 2x4 with turn buckles on the outside

They stay all year. They are there for aesthetic purposes only.

Note how some have a hook on them to hang plants/flowers.

Once the panels were being made specail for me the windows added only the cost of the window itself and the wood to hold it.

The carpeting was nothing to do. I went to Lowes and bought the right amount of outdoor carpeting and unrolled it. The ends which roll up get tacked down with a staple gun.

Funny story. Went with someone whose succah was about 15-20 years old, and they have a roll of outdoor carpet that they use every year in the succah, and store it in the garage during the year, that needed to be replaced. When we got to the store, the salesperson showed us the options for outdoor carpets, and was explained the differences, and asked us what kind of quality we were looking for. We said that we just were looking to replace what we had, which had lasted over 15 year. You should have seen the shocked look on his face.   



We later explained that it was only outside for two weeks out of the year.

I can take no credit other than for hiring the right guy to build it and giving him the right instructions. Most which he builds do not have the windows and I specifically had him add them. The lighting I did myself and I designed the way the bottom door panel is held on while he had it getting screwed in to the deck door each year.

What type of windows are those and how are they mounted to the panel? Do they open? Depth of the window and wall?
