Wood
Pros: Cheap
Easy to change shape or size as your needs for space change
DIY - most people would be able to build it from scratch or make modifications (e.g. add windows)
Can be converted to chazzon ish (replace metal screws with peg screws)
Can integrate a schlock to the structure
Cons: Heavy, Can warp over time. (note: if you use enough fasteners and are also careful to assemble it balanced this can be minimized)
         Needs lots of storage space

Fiberglass
Pros: Easy Setup (on level ground)
Length/width is reconfigurable (you just need to buy a few 2x4 beams if you change layout)
Cons: Expensive
Greenhouse effect on hot days (need to budget for several open/shut windows)
Connection threads can become bent even with proper storage (need to budget for the odd panel replacement here and there)
         Can Crack or Break

Canvas
Pros: Setup in minutes
Cons: Not accepted by all poskim
         Poor protection from cold Weather
         Wind Can be bothersome.

Im building a sukkah on my deck. Basically it will be a frame made of 4x4 posts and 2x4 cross beams, with some type of panels fastened to them.

Looking for ideas for panels. Doesn't need to be structural, just want it to look nice, and not too expensive. Don't want to use canvas or anything like that.

Bought 3 Ease-Lock sukkahs from Leiter's last year for institutional use and could not be happier. Extremely high quality materials and the reps who helped us were wonderful. Highly recommend.

How long do all these DIY sukkas, and wood sukkahs last?
My parents have been using the same fiberglass sukkah for 30 years, and they bought it used! When they expanded they bought 2 more panels. They even use one of those half green and half yellow ones, which is even older (got it from my grandparents when they no longer needed it). Today you can still buy panels to fit fiberglass sukkahs.

And they use real bamboo stick, which is a real pain, but those are also going on a few decades.
I'm not who you think I am.

My parents have a wood DIY sukkah that they got used ~25 years ago, unknown how old it was at that point. The boards can use replacing now, but I'd say it looked fine until recently. They've painted the inside of the boards a couple times over the years to keep it looking nice

How much do basic fiberglass boards cost?

If you can DIY it, you can likely repair/replace panels as necessary fairly cheaply. Besides, a lot of the time DIY'ing it is about maximizing you space and customizing in ways you might not be able to with pre-made systems. And I say that as someone who grew up in an old school Leiter's fiberglass sukkah (corrugated/wavy green and white panels, went together with nuts and bolts, etc.). While my parents have since upgraded to a very nice Sukkah Depot panel sukkah, my sister uses the old one now.

In Canada, it was about $300 CAD per 2 feet IIRC

Wow. A 2-foot DIY wooden panel would cost a small fraction of that.

What are the advantages of fiberglass, aside from (maybe) a longer lifespan?

Any wood will need to be treated to withstand water.

Disadvantage-much less sturdy and more likely to cave in if it gets windy. This gets worse and worse as it gets larger.

How easy it is to put up depends somewhat on the location.

If you put up all the proper clips and beams you will not have an issue with sturdiness. You can put a cap on the bottom, in the middle (slides down from the top), and on top (which also holds beams to keep it straight). Never had an issue with it being not sturdy.

All the panels slide/click in, from the  inside, so even without any space behind it (like I have) you have no issue because there is no work to be done behind the panel. Unlike wood where you have to go behind it to screw/zip tie the wood together (unless you want the ugly part foward).

Not my experience both with having used and having seen on both counts.
