Wood
Pros: Cheap
Easy to change shape or size as your needs for space change
DIY - most people would be able to build it from scratch or make modifications (e.g. add windows)
Can be converted to chazzon ish (replace metal screws with peg screws)
Can integrate a schlock to the structure
Cons: Heavy, Can warp over time. (note: if you use enough fasteners and are also careful to assemble it balanced this can be minimized)
         Needs lots of storage space

Fiberglass
Pros: Easy Setup (on level ground)
Length/width is reconfigurable (you just need to buy a few 2x4 beams if you change layout)
Cons: Expensive
Greenhouse effect on hot days (need to budget for several open/shut windows)
Connection threads can become bent even with proper storage (need to budget for the odd panel replacement here and there)
         Can Crack or Break

Canvas
Pros: Setup in minutes
Cons: Not accepted by all poskim
         Poor protection from cold Weather
         Wind Can be bothersome.

They are mehudar, but not any more mehudar than the bamboo mats made with natural unwoven fibers.
Are those the bamboo mats being sold out of trucks with a hechsher ?

When I was living in EY my dirah had some rolls of random schach mats in it left from my baal dirah's MIL so I had no way of finding out about them. I asked R Dovid Moore who was known to be a big machmir and he answered "What could be wrong with them?"

Secach is not directly on top of the gud asik.
There is no gud asik being used. All walls reach the top. One uses dofen akuma

Well then that dofen is akum on both top and bottom.
The bottom is at the end of the vehicle, the top portion of the dofen is pulled in, and then it pops out again.

The poskim talk about the porch walls that have a lip (Israeli ones, bottom concrete wall, top bars), this case seems extreme.

Eta, there is definitely a space btwn seats and roof. So we do have the gud/akum combo. Fun

The top of the benches is well under the smallest lavud. It never goes more than 4 tfachim further than schach and whether out goes 3 depends on size of the tefach. Where is this discussion about the walls you describe?

Isn't lavud + dofen akuma a problem as well?

If the trunk of the van is more than 3 t deep, it would mean that the bottom of the dofen is not lovud to the top half (like by chakak; unless we differentiate based on it being nireah mibachutz 10? [But this is not necessarily true from inside the van].)

Re the porches, Now I'm recalling more, discussion is primarily re the 7*7 size, and whether the bottom thickness of the dofen is memaet, if you can sit on wall etc - all the contemporary Israeli succah seforim discuss..
