Unless the 747 is a bucket list item, UA is the no-brainer.

UA
Why would you backtrack?
I left out the first departure is from Oslo so it's about the same time both flights ,  I did lu f in 747 years ago so no factor for me ,I just hate us airlines in premium classes except jetblue, that's why I had the question

maybe the soft product but Lufthansa hard product leaves much to be desired.no direct aisle access for premium product is outdated. But if you have to market F then I guess it makes sense

Flying tonight from TLV to DTW via ORD.
Weather isn't looking promising Wednesday.
Anyone think switching to fly via Newark may help me?

I realize it's kind of all a guessing game at this point. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sure. And there's a waiver in place so you can change dates or routes.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

With the weather forecast how it is, are we assuming I'm not flying anywhere once I Iand in Chicago/Newark?

Trying to figure out if I should just leave Wednesday night and try to avoid that happening altogether.   Would rather get home if I could though.

The flight through Newark has a 6 hour stopover which is why I was trying to avoid it from the beginning.

EWR has no waiver yet, so I guess weather here is not expected to be bad.

The issue may be getting into Detroit. Weather is hard to predict and its impact on any airport is harder. If you don't want to deal with it just wait it out there .

Option 1:

VFA-BUQ-ADD-CAI Y+ or J
CAI-TLV Y

75k AC + $360 for Y+
135k AC + $240 for J (recliner)
All for 3pax.

Advantage: cheaper both for Y+ and J options, overnight in CAI so can sleep properly, enough time to explore the main sights the next day.
Disadvantage: arrive TLV Wed 7pm, so lose a day. No other *A partner is showing this itin, so it might end up being phantom.

Option 2:

VFA-BUQ-ADD Y+
ADD-TLV Y+

160k UR + $400 for 3pax.

Advantage: arrive TLV Wed 4am, gain a day
Disadvantage: 6.5+4h in coach, will be bombed day 1 in TLV, bloody expensive

Some additional details:

- Both itins depart VFA 1pm so it's a long travel day no matter how we slice or dice it.
- We stay on the plane in BUQ, so practically that's a 6.5h VFA-ADD flight.
- We're departing TLV either the following Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Most likely Tuesday.

I did a very similar itinerary to number 1 just with a stop in GBE instead of BUQ I think you going to be exhausted with either option but I like the first one better in J you will be able to rest somewhat and you might as well get to see Cairo, also don’t know what your planning to do in Israel but seems like enough time.

1- great.
2- too tight.
3- unless you have something specific to do in MIA, I would not add an entire extra day of travel (which starts super early due to 8am flight) just to go to a restaurant.
4 - paying 2x the price of 1, and no option to refund, is not worth it just to avoid short connection in D.C.

DD coming home from seminary in 3 weeks.

Dismissal time changed on the last day to an earlier time.

I currently have her booked on RJ the next morning with a short connection in AMM. (40k AA)

With the earlier dismissal I can book her on MS (Y and J are currently available) with a 7:50pm departure (she says she can make it to the airport by 5:30 pm), a 6-hour layover in CAI, and arrival at JFK 9:00 am.

RJ gives 2pc of luggage in Y. From what I can tell it seems like MS only gives 1pc in Y, and charges about $200 for extra pc. I could put her in J where she would get 2pcs (and lounge access during layover), but not very comfortable spoiling her at this age.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
