It says starting today, but i dont see the changes...
Users of the bank's Freedom cards will get the new portal starting Sunday, while the bank's other credit-card customers will be phased in over the next few months.

Why does this matter? Is there any practical difference?

Yes. Chase UR does not have contracts with all airlines and flights.
For example, look for a flight between ATH-HER. You wont find any non-stop flights since they are not contracted with those airlines or with those rights (I confirmed this with Chase UR when I was trying to book this flight). However, if you log in to freedom, those flights are now available. I am going to call chase soon to see if they can book that for me through Reserve.

Cheaper on CSR than Freedom on 8/26.
CSR has Ellinair for $68 and nothing else nonstop.
CF has Sky and Hahn for more than that and no Ellinair option.

So Sky and Hahn I guess are from the addition of Expedia.

how will it be booked?  If this books as a “consolidator fare”, that means it won't be eligible for elite benefits. It also means that you cant use things like Global Upgrade Certificates on Delta international itineraries like you could if it was an eligible cash fare, So this could basically make the ‘redeem for travel’ worthless
