earn 5 points for every $ spent on citi thank you rewards

I got an offer in the mail to get 5 points for every $ spent on the citi thank you card. the offer is good thru 11/30/11
it had an invitation number so i guess its targeted.

i am trying to reach a spending threshold on a AA card (though i have another few months)

is it worth it to start spending on this card?
I assume i got this offer bec i havent purchased anything with it for the past 2 months, bec i didn't think it was worth it and bec i was aiming for my spending threshold.

the points arent worth that much, but figuring 5 points for every $ (plus a point from the flying points) does that make it worth it?

a ticket worth $300 would mean spending $5000

I called about my citi premiere card on thursday.
in the course of the conversation the csr told me that the there is an offer now of 5 points for every dollar spent thru june with a cap of 2,500 points.

i told her i did not receive the info/invitation. so she signed me up for it.

Not sure how it works with citi, but generally the "cap" is the max amount of points that can be earned,  and not the max base points/spend.

Meaning,  with your promo,  once you spend $500 you hit the cap.

Incorrect. The additional points are capped at 2,500, meaning you get 5x on up to $625.

Edit: From the T&C: "Bonus points awarded with this offer are subject to a cap of 2,500 additional points."
