Spg Login Vs Marriott Login

Originally, we were told that everything will merge under marriott.com.

However, while speaking to Marriott last week, I was told that Marriott took that back, and begining on the 18th, you will have a choice to either sign into your combined accounts either via Spg.com or via marriott.com. There will be a difference with which one you log into.

Is that true? Or is everything the same regardless which site you initially sign into after the 18th?

If you sign into marriott.com, are you able to see your entire account summary from your old SPG account with all the earnng from the last few years on SPG?

I dont think it matters.
I feel like many will go with SPG just for the nostalgic sense

My friend only had a spg number, and when he logged in on spg.com, it gave him no option to keep spg number.
It just said here is your new number..

Maybe because he had no Marriott account? Or will everyone get a new number eventually.?

I have both spg and marriot accounts. When I logged into my spg account didnt give me an option to keep my old number just said heres your new number

Based on my experience logging into your spg account will just direct you to a new Marriott account which you'll have to merger later vs. singing into your Marriott account will just ask you to combine. Either way I stayed with my original Marriott #.

I just got an email from AwardWallet my new marriott account (merged automatically from SPG) gained 81k points, is this a known glitch ? I had less than 5k in my original SPG account

nvm, i was looking at my SPG statement of aug 2017 not realizing the date, all clear now
