How to secure a basinett for infant when traveling international?

Im flying RT from NYC - Australia on Qantas Economy with an infant child. Is there anything I could do to give me higher chances of getting a basinett for my baby?

I did. They put in a request but they said they can't confirm until we check in at the airport the day of the flight.

Qantas doesn't guarantee a bassinet seat, they officially give it to the youngest infants of the flight
