Chase Marriott new rules 8/26 issue

I signed up for the Chase Marriott card together with a United card before midnight last night and received email confirmation on the 25th saying it would take 30 days..

 For some reason it did not appear in their system until 4 hours ago, so as far as they see I only applied on August 26th. So when I called to have my card approved she read me some disclosure telling me that I won't qualify for the bonus, because I currently have the spg amex card (that I want to keep).
She asked me if she wants me to put it through because I WON'T get the bonus.
1- What does that question mean? Wasn't my credit already pulled?
2- is there a way for me to get the bonus, since I really applied and received the emails on the 25th?
3- do I really have the ability to tell them I don't want any of the 2 applications, and then I won't have any pulls?
4- do I go ahead with United and tell them to close Marriott, or keep both since it's one pull?

Please help me figure this out.

Is there somewhere to talk to to explain that I really applied on 25th?
Is it true that until I give them the go ahead to process the application, there is no credit pull, so I might as well back out?

Check your report to see if a credit pull was done or not. If not then back out.

Yes, but IIRC they won't tell you over the phone if a bank pulled your history, I think for that you need to request a report.

Actually I think if you ask them on a specific, they can confirm.

IME they didn't answer, but he told that he can confirm if I ask on specific bank.
I guess YMMV
