Always had that question, in a way it's a good thing that way you can tell who's lubavitch from a mile away as they have there shirts out together with there tzizzus and pinched hats, whether in a airport or looking for a shul or anything that chabad offers you can spot them like a sore thumb.

I don't know halacha so well to know the reason. Maybe if it's tucked in and then bent up and out it's somehow considered a different beged? Or the corners are now considered the part that's tucked in?

my father told me all chassidim have the same idea that the begged should be seen , so chassidim wear it over their shirt , and Lubavitch wear it under their shirt but tucked out. That’s all.

Interesting, I once heard that al pe halocha you're supposed to wear the tzitzis under the clothing, al pe kabola/ari youre supposed to wear it on top of your clothing, we make a pashoro and wear under the vest on top of the shirt, true or not no clue will see what r' chaim paskens.
