Poor gamble? When have you had better odds to payoff in a raffle than this? It was almost 50/50 (odds/payoff).

I'm purely talking about it as a gamble, not as a charity raffle. That definitely factors in - there is a benefit to donating money for a good cause. But as a gamble, you'd have better odds in Vegas playing video poker or wheel of fortune. Let alone blackjack or roulette. Especially if you value the prize at less than MSRP.

You are not looking at it correctly or my math is wrong. His odds were roughly 5-1. He risked 3.6k to win 18k. You don't have better odds at video poker as that requires skill.

You need to do the math. What if only 360 were sold and you had 120 of them?

His odds would have been better had his ticket numbers been more scattered. The odds of the random number generator choosing a specific chunk of numbers (one of the last) is far less than it choosing any number from 0-700
