My BM hat was a Roche. Cost $50 in 97 in CLE.
Last Borsalino I bought a decade ago was $185 from Bencraft.

Now a Borsalino doesn't go for less then 260-320 in the Borsalino store.

I stopped going to Bencraft after the old man handed the business to his son. Just wasn't the same anymore.

I bought a Roche once, was a very different experience than anything else. Very stiff and heavy IMHO. I bought a couple of times at Ferster and had a good experience.

My current hat I bought in Kfar Chabad (not sure of the brand, as the lining fell off, but it is Italian made and stamped "Exclusively Made for London Taylor Hats". I am quite happy with it.

My head is a little more oblong than the standard shape they make (actually no two hats are the same, and if I would have time/patience I would probably try on a few of the same size just to see which fits best), and as a result they don't hold up as well. Though I did learn that the smaller the brim, the better it will keep its shape, so I try to go smaller on the brim with each hat purchase.
