short points for SW companion pass

Am short about 45k points to get the companion pass. Figured to sign up for personal cc to get 40k bonus.

Any ideas on how to quickly get the remaining 5k besides transferring 1:1 from chase UR?

would do that. except don't know anyone who is flying on SW anytime soon, other then me of course. And definitely not $2500 worth of flights.

Wanna get away ticket on SW will earn you 5 points/dollar, plus 2 points/$ for using the SW card.  So you only need to fly $714 worth of SW flight to get your 5K points.

What's the rule on changes to revenue tickets?  Can you book something far out and change or cancel it when you know when you want to fly?

Revenue ticket can be cancelled with no fee.  You will have cash credit in your account to be used within 1 year (from the date you purchase the ticket, not the date you cancel, I believe).  The credit can be used to purchase ticket for the same passenger only.  Can't use that cash credit to buy ticket for another person.  Booking far out is another good option to get quick points if you get the points when you book instead of when you fly.  I don't know.  I haven't fly revenue SW in a long time, always fly with points.

a) I see you're not in NY, but there's probably similar opprtunities in Chicago.
ConEd electric - pay $1500 using a card and pay only $3.35
National Grid gas - pay $600 using a card pay $2.25
Other utilities or bills that  you can prepay.
Pay ahead for yourself and a friend/family who will pay you back.


b) Buy Visa GCs.  At CVS, Walgreens, etc. you can get a 'variable load' and load $500 on it for $6-9. Look for the one with the cheapest fees.  But VISA. (problems with MC.  Not all stores take AMEX)   Then do your regular spending from these Visas over the next few months.
