To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

Hotel for Wedding Night?
« on: August 17, 2011, 03:23:31 PM »
Hey Guys --

Need suggestions for a hotel on my wedding night.

Getting married in NJ, so need hotel in either NJ or NYC.

Random thoughts:

I'd love to have a jacuzzi in the room.
I'd love not to spend a boat load.
I am a Hyatt Diamond member until 8/31.
I have ~100,000 Chase UR points.
I have ~12,000 Starwood points.

Thoughts?

Hyatt Jersey City is stunning with great views of the Hudson river and the NY skyline. Transfer UR points to hyatt and try to get an upgrade with your Diamond status.

I am not used to fancy hotels, but this seemed very nice and they've renovated since. Mazel Tov!!

Did you totally skip over his random thoughts?

W Hoboken for SPG or Andaz 5th Ave or Wall St. for Hyatt all should be great.
You'd have to call about getting upgraded to a room with a Jacuzzi.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Just "Joshing"

What about:
The Westin New York at Times Square
Element New York Times Square West
Le Parker Méridien New York
W New York

All are 12k for one night

+1 on the W Hoboken.

Very nice hotel ! Know many people who've stayed there on their wedding night.

So two votes for W Hoboken, but the only issue is I don't get to utilize my Diamond Status as a bargaining chip to upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi.

Maybe Andaz 5th or Wall Street is the way to go?

Also @twentie4hrs -- yea, I've heard that tip about the wedding night from a few people; definitely gonna try it.

I was pretty unimpressed with the W hoboken was nothing exciting - well maybe I just saw the standard room although I was told its an upgraded one as a gold member.
I would recommend the Sheraton in Edison NJ very cheap with points, and they have only one suite, which is very very nice they dont give it out easily but they gave it to me and enjoyed it!

Call up and ask for the GM to see if they're willing to make a bride and groom happy on their wedding night with an upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi.

I don't think you can go too wrong with any of those hotels I mentioned though.

Edit: the Sheraton Edison suite that I mentioned does not have a jacuzzi.

So what would be the best way to get the room without spending a boatload? Buy a standard room, get upgraded to a suite using one of my free suite upgrades, and then call GM at that point?

I think a jacuzzi is a waste for your wedding night. Save it for your honeymoon

Assuming you mean at Andaz?  Book a standard room and then call the GM.  Ask him what suite he can book you into considering that its your wedding night and that you will use a suite upgrade.  Normally the suite upgrade only goes for the lowest suite, but a manager and for sure the GM can make it go much farther than that.

+1... gotta work that out...

And if I book at Wall Street? Or a different hotel?  Would the procedure be different?

I stayed in the palace in NYC. booked a regular room and was upgraded to a presidential suite. Total was under $300 for the night

Sounds good. Any chance there was a jacuzzi in the room?

Would an email to GM work as well? How do you get GMs email?
