To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

How is that? Seems it's only a cat. 4. Is it nice? Will they upgrade for wedding night?
It's OK, nothing too luxurious. More like a Hyatt Regency than a Park Hyatt. Yes (I got an advanced upgrade for much less reason than that).
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

Anyone here stayed at W Hoboken recently?  Is it easy to get upgraded to a suite for wedding night? Whats the best way to go about doing it? Calling front desk? E-mail?  Speaking to manager? Thanks.
Also how far of a drive is it from Flatbush?

What's nice and not too far from lakewood? (Besides  what's in the wiki) Doesn't  need  to be points hotel.

Hey Guys, Iyh getting married Sept 18th.
I really want the andaz splash suite.
no cash and points available, but regular room available for 25k points.
I have no status now but I read that if you request a hyatt diamond status challenge, you get the status right away (but dont get the DSUs yet)
Do you think if request the challenge, book a regular room as a diamond, then i'll be able to successfully get upgraded?
Any other Ideas? I'm SPG gold

Thanks

Unlikely.
Probably going to have to pay the $518+ and DSU it.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Also, SPG 'upgraded rooms' are available for a marginal increase over regular point rates. any idea which hotels in NYC have good value for those rooms (e.g. Jacuzzi)

I went to the W hoboken, great place. Enjoyed a boat ride into the city the next morning for lunch. Had a great stay!

Only drawback they don't have any Suites with 2 beds, I opted for a smaller room with 2 beds.

IME most Hotels (at least the higher end ones) dont have suites with double beds.

Only get married once, bro. In five years, you won't remember the $500.

Unless you take that $500 and buy gold. Then when the apocalypse strikes in 5 years  you'll be a millionaire.

One can say the same about these splurges and 100 years...

In any other case, it's really only $250 if you live in a community property state :P
