To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

In any other case, it's really only $250 if you live in a community property state :P

lol

Meh. Imho just go home first night. - been discussed though ...

Pretty safe bet to assume you haven't been accused of being romatic, I guess.

Eh not worth it then.
Any ideas for places with higher chances of success?
Guys here wrote about the W hoboken and the St regis

I just went to the St regis for our 3rd anniversary on points, no status. I emailed them before and they said they can't promise. When we got there they upgraded us to the "5th avenue suite", 2 bathrooms large and spacious, and it was Sunday night memorial day weekend.

I went to the W hoboken, great place. Enjoyed a boat ride into the city the next morning for lunch. Had a great stay!

Only drawback they don't have any Suites with 2 beds, I opted for a smaller room with 2 beds.
Did they offer you a suite because it's your wedding night?
I don't mind not having two beds, should I require it, a couch will suffice.
Only get married once, bro. In five years, you won't remember the $500.

(One hopes.)
Easy for a lawyer to say then a law student about to be matriculated.

Sadly the St Regis is all booked up.

Thank you all for your advice. Any recommendations for something under 30k points/$400?
As of now thinking of booking the W Hoboken (20k spg) and trying to get a confirmed suite in advance, the wow suites look incredible

I'd suggest calling SPG for the W they had a promotion running on some of the rooms that wasn't showing on the site.

Ok. If I can't get a confirmed suite elsewhere then maybe.
So if I pay cash I can forsure successfully use someones DSU?  (A DDFer offered me one already thanks) There's still no guarantee I'll get the splash suite.

I called them already. What type of promotion, using cash or points?

Cash plus DSU guarantees Splash suite.
It has a couch and rollaways are free.
Should be able to find discounted Hyatt GC to lower the pain.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

You can't apply it to your reservation. But if you want, you can use my account and I'll check in before hand for you.

Thanks, very kind of you. I showed pics to my kallah and now it looks like I have no choice ;)
I'm assuming you'll come to my wedding, room keys in hand?

Be sure that you don't take the room keys. Give them to a parent or sibling for safekeeping until you're ready to leave the wedding.

And don't forget to order DIA kosher breakfast and ask the hotel about kosher champagne for your wedding night.

Yeah, total waste to treat your brand new wife as a queen on the night of her wedding. Take her back to the apt you'll live in for the next however long. Much grander gesture.

And you'll also save a couple bucks, too!

Don't know about coming to wedding, but I'm happy to meet you (or one of your friends) in midtown to pick up the keys.

The day/night of the wedding is complicated and intense enough as it is.
Not exactly the best time to travel.

I personally went away etc. T'was magical. - But looking back, it is just crazy to put on yourself to worry about traveling, hotel keys, food, directions etc etc. On top of everything else, and at 2 in the morning..

Not exactly agreeing/disagreeing, but I'd say pick a nice hotel that's within a 30 minute drive, upgrade with the 'wedding night' excuse, and decorate it beforehand tastefully and beautifully. I promise, she'll still feel like a queen.

Then save the over-the-top hotel for an anniversary or another night when you are a) not exhausted, b) not arriving past midnight, and c) a whole lot more comfortable and able to enjoy the room for what it is.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'm truly touched (and my kallah sees this website I'm so attached to isn't a total waste of time)
Where would Hyatt get the kosher breakfast from?

My kallah wants a hotel for the wedding night and i respect what she wants. After I send her pics of the suite, she won't settle for anything less then a place with a giant tub in the middle. I can't go a few weeks later because I'll be in the Conrad Maldives.
I'm in the process of getting 400k+ points through her SSN iyh, so it's ok to splurge a bit :P
