To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

I get why going to a hotel for the wedding night sounds attractive for a Choson-Kallah, but really it makes more sense to save it for a later occasion such as an anniversary or, better yet, after you have a couple of kids and need to to get out. Then they will really appreciate it.

I know I was on a very tight budget when I got married. I feel it would be good for people to know that it's totally not necessary and might even be wasteful to go to a hotel for a wedding night, and not feel like they're letting their spouse down by not taking them to one.

Now if you have extra money that you don't mind spending, then it's your prerogative to do with it as you wish, just as you can spend whatever you want on a extravagant and lavish wedding hall. Etc. As long as people don't feel compelled to keep up with the Schwartzes..

I'll take it a step further... I don't understand the fascination with hot tubs at all.

a whole lot more comfortable and able to enjoy the room for what it is.
That's the main thing IMO. It's your first time, have no clue what you're doing, just leave all the flare aside.

On your honeymoon a couple months later is when you get the nicest room with the hot tub.

Exactly.

I didn't. And neither did any of my friends. And if they did, I definitely didn't know about it.

Wedding night is definitely not the night to cheap out! Especially for people here who know how to get great deals! You have the rest of your life to be cheap!

So get something nice but close and without useless stupidity that won't enhance anything anyhow.

Hey Boo Boo, it's like deja vu all over again.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

Be sure that you don't take the room keys. Give them to a parent or sibling for safekeeping until you're ready to leave the wedding.

And don't forget to order DIA kosher breakfast and ask the hotel about kosher champagne for your wedding night.
