To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

Wedding night is definitely not the night to cheap out! Especially for people here who know how to get great deals! You have the rest of your life to be cheap!

or any special night... we can generate so many points its silly to be stingy

When commenting on this thread please remember this:

אמר רבי חנן בר רבא הכל יודעין כלה למה נכנסה לחופה, אלא כל המנבל פיו אפילו חותמין עליו גזר דין של שבעים שנה לטובה הופכין עליו לרעה. אמר רבה בר שילא אמר רב חסדא: כל המנבל את פיו מעמיקין לו גיהנום.

Talking about hot tubs etc, I am still dumbfounded on why the W Maldives doesnt have hot tub jacuzzis in the lagoon/ocean OWB rooms

That's the main thing IMO. It's your first time, have no clue what you're doing, just leave all the flare aside.

On your honeymoon a couple months later is when you get the nicest room with the hot tub.

Spoken like a true veteran. How long have you been married?

100% you gotta do what works for you. This is just a forum to help with ideas-planning etc. whoever is orthodox on here knows we all have a LOR who we can ask shaalos.

Depends on how good it is. I rather have an Uber bring good food if the food is borensteins airplane style.

Not a time to be stingy :)

I know I was on a very tight budget when I got married. I feel it would be good for people to know that it's totally not necessary and might even be wasteful to go to a hotel for a wedding night, and not feel like they're letting their spouse down by not taking them to one.

Now if you have extra money that you don't mind spending, then it's your prerogative to do with it as you wish, just as you can spend whatever you want on a extravagant and lavish wedding hall. Etc. As long as people don't feel compelled to keep up with the Schwartzes..

You can't say something that you haven't done and have no concept of is wasteful.

I went to the W hoboken, great place. Enjoyed a boat ride into the city the next morning for lunch. Had a great stay!

Only drawback they don't have any Suites with 2 beds, I opted for a smaller room with 2 beds.
I got a suite there with a couch which in the second room. A Yeshiva bachur could sleep anywhere but the second he's married he's already a mefunak...

Or one significant other feels bad to sleep on a king size bed while the other sleeps on a sofa?*

*this is not only reference to a wedding night hotel stay.

Pretty safe bet to assume you haven't been accused of being romatic, I guess.

Bottom line is that a fancy hotel room with a tub is most likely a major waste of money and probably impractical to boot.
But if the girl wants it, there's a time to be frugal and a time to spend and a wedding night is a time to spend. You'll never live it down otherwise.
