To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

Bottom line is that a fancy hotel room with a tub is most likely a major waste of money and probably impractical to boot.
But if the girl wants it, there's a time to be frugal and a time to spend and a wedding night is a time to spend. You'll never live it down otherwise.
I highly doubt any girl asks for a tub in the room on the wedding night,

Imho it's the men

So anyone on this thread who says they did is lying?

This thread is awesome because it shows the incredibly wide spectrum of the Jewish community that is represented on this forum, each with their own customs - not to mention personalities and preferences. Yet many are convinced that everyone is doing it their way, and cannot fathom a differing view/choice/preference.

They think its cool but not that they would actually use it. Last time this convo came up it was (rightfully) swiftly deleted.

We just wanted a big bed in order to sort and count the checks and cash that we received.  :P

Turns out, a smaller bed would have worked as well.  :-\

Thanks, very kind of you. I showed pics to my kallah and now it looks like I have no choice ;)
I'm assuming you'll come to my wedding, room keys in hand?
Why is no one saying Park Hyatt. I have stayed a few times in the PH, St Regis and Andaz 5th ave. If you can get an upgrade in PH stay ther forsure.

I had a crazy story my wedding night... It was actually before my DDF days and I booked the Waldorf in NYC bec that was supposedly the IT hotel! I didnt even know anything about upgrades back then!

Anyway we get to the hotel and I ended up leaving my ID at home! took like 45 minutes to check in, they wouldnt take CC from me for payment they just made me pay cash for the room and luckily they let me check in!

Or one significant other feels bad to sleep on a king size bed while the other sleeps on a sofa?*

*this is not only reference to a wedding night hotel stay.
Oh please any girl that says that is lying. A girl loves to be treated royally.

PH is a lot more for an upgradeable room.

any girl

Well, I know someone who likes yellow Laffy Taffies!

The idea that someone wouldn't want to sleep luxuriously while someone they care about is slumming it (in comparison) is ridiculous to you? If the roles were switched and your wife was sleeping on the couch - how would you feel?

I hope you don't mean me :) I was just pointing out that no one should feel bad that they weren't taken to a hotel on their wedding night. Because as pointed out by others, it's not the most practical time to go away.

To a suite maybe? but to a larger room they always give upgrades even on free nights.

If only for the incredibly wide spectrum of the Jewish community that is represented on this forum, I love DDF!!

BTW "I THINK" the ultra Orthodox/Chasidim aren't well represented on the forums, as you can see in this thread. Probably for a lack of English skills.

Those rooms don't have a couch. Do they even have room for a rollaway?
