To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

you can use a dsu for a Jr. Suite and points and cash
Once you're paying $300+15K for cat 7 C+P you might as well do the $500 Andaz for the full Splash suite vs a PH Jr suite IMHO.
Plus Andaz gives kosher brekkie without a fuss.

I hear the opposing argument (especially if you would use the PH pool), I just wasn't blown away by the PH.

See ETA above.
Personally I didn't find PH NYC service to be special in any way. PHs in North America are nothing like their international versions which I love.

Also depends if you are staying in a PH city hotel or PH resort.

For me the free minibar+kosher breakfast+higher tier suite tips it in favor of the Andaz, but you won't go wrong either way.

Where can I find discounted GC other then card cash?
PH offered me over the phone a suite for $400 + 25 or 30k (can't remember) points.
I declined

Very smart move IMO. Why waste those points when you can get a DSU for free? The hassle of booking through someone else is obviously a factor, but nowhere near the cost of 25K points.

Hi @Yehuda,

It was wonderful speaking with you yesterday – thank you for reaching out. I checked on our points plus cash availability for the summer for you, and unfortunately, we are unable to extend the points plus cash option for your requested dates, as the hotel is no longer offering this booking option. Please do let me know if I can help you in any other way.

Best wishes,

Check into Hyatt Regency Jersey City. I once got someone there into the Bridal Suite (yes, they have a specific Bridal Suite).

If only for the incredibly wide spectrum of the Jewish community that is represented on this forum, I love DDF!!

BTW "I THINK" the ultra Orthodox/Chasidim aren't well represented on the forums, as you can see in this thread. Probably for a lack of English skills.
just to balance things out a bit here...
im sure a hotel on a wedding night is all fine and dandy but there's something to be said for sweeping your brand new wife into your brand new home to start your life together in your own abode. no hotel staff or check in or splash or wow suites to distract from your delight at finally being HOME. just my $0.02.
Don't wait for the perfect moment; take the moment and make it perfect.

  • Location: The value of a forum such as this one is not in that one can post a question and receive an answer, but in that the question has most likely been asked before, and the answer is available to him that will but only use the search function.
  • Programs: 1. Search on google. 2. Search in the right board of DDF with a general word or two. 3. Read the wiki. 4. Read the thread. 5. Ask away.

May as well make nice with the mice and cockroaches now in their Brooklyn 1 bedroom apt costing $2k/mo.

If it's a new house that's one thing but of its not...

If it's a new house that's one thing but of its not...
if they cannot afford to get rid of their mice and cockroaches, they have a bigger problem on their hands that no suite will make up for.
