To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

Nothing like a nice hotel to focus on your spouse.
?
i wouldnt suggest getting a wagyu steak only to slather on the duck sauce.

It's not yet "home" at that point. Need to live there first to be considered home.
no better way than to make it a home than to spend the first night of the rest of your lives there

In your brand new home, you're probably distracted with all the boxes and wedding gifts that need toiveling and put away etc. Nothing like a nice hotel to focus on your spouse.

this sounds purely like a female perspective

Wait, what? You need an apartment, but you won't look at apartment buildings or basements? So you're saying you want to rent a house.

The point is you can't say there are no apts for that price, and then when someone presses you on that claim, say you meant only xyz apartment types (which are generally more expensive).

Not sure what your friends salaries or hashkafos are like, but of my friends (who all vary greatly in their salaries and hashkafos), none of them live in split private house in flatbush
