To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

Dan will tell you to go with Andaz 5th Ave. Crowne Plaza times sq. is really nothing special  and they are not big on upgrades even for plats. IC will only upgrade you if you have Ambassador status.

However it was mentioned many times that you can email ahead of time that it is your wedding night and you may get an upgrade.

Wanna try this... Wedding is in a little over a month. I would assume it's too early for them to promise an upgrade because they don't yet know if they will have paid booking. Correct?

Should I email now?

I made an SPG reservation for a basic room in 3 SPG properties for wedding night (W hoboken, Tarrytown, and Parsippany). Gonna see which will offer an upgrade.

A friend called me to ask if I had any ideas for a hotel to go to in Baltimore the night of his chasuna. Does anyone have any suggestions? He's not looking for anything overly fancy, he's looking to spend under $200.

Would he drive to Washington? Is that too far? If not there are the hotels by the Harbor or a few others I have to look up.

Washington is too far. I suggested the DoubleTree/Hilton at Reisterstown Rd and the Beltway, but I'm wondering if there's anything nicer that won't cost a fortune and isn't too far.

Hyatt by the Harbor.  Category 4 can be bought for $150.

I doubt they'd turn down a groom and his bride.
 :)
OR there is the Sheraton that can be had with points as well. Though depending on the date it may be cheaper with cash.

EDIT: Darn, looks like it's also sold out. What the heck is going on in NYC on Tuesday/Wednesday??
NYC often sells out during the week.

W Hoboken should be pretty nice.

There has to be something nicer than the Hilton by the Beltway.

Hotels downtown Baltimore (Hyatt, Sheraton, Marriott Waterfront), Hunt Valley, MD (Embassy Suites, Marriott -- changed names, not sure new name) or consider Columbia, MD.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. He decided to go with the Embassy Suites. Now, what's the best mehalch to try to get upgraded to a suite? He doesn't have elite status or anything like that. As per upthread, call the GM several days before the chasuna? TIA.

I'm no expert, but they look like regular hotel rooms to me. Anyway, they do have fancier rooms, so what's the best way to get upgraded to those?
