To save you time, here's a sum up of this thread. If you're getting married close to NYC (yes, Brooklyn is in NYC) - just go to the Andaz 5th. :)

REMEMBER: You must take your kesubah with you, or give it to someone to hold for you. The kallah has to know where it is.

OMG
Ya it was insane, mind you we paid $700 for that limo. (I'm not sure if the company gave him back the money because of the incident)

Wow what a crazy funny story. Fun things to tell the grandkids. :)
$700 for the limo? I think I'd be happier driving myself.

In a lot of circles the chosson's friends pay for the limo. Its like the wedding present that they give and it usually isnt hard to raise, most of the time about $10 a guy and its fully covered with extra carry change to start the guy off with. But when the chosson gets greedy...

I think it's a waste of money, it's such a short time and not worth it

I heard from multiple people who teach Chassanim that using the rollaway bed is not a good idea as your lowering yourself. I'm not saying I understand that as I don't but this is what I've heard.
I also heard people say to step on her foot under the chuppa "והוא ימשול בך"  :o
I don't teach chassanim either 'segula'
(Aside for extreme inappropiateness in sending her to the cot, there is quite possibly a halachic problem as well, ודי לחכימא or you can pm me)

It sure does. But I asked him if it was an exaggeration, and he assured me it was quite accurate. His exact words were "maybe 2 out of every 100 chassanim".

Maybe his 'experience' reflects on theirs... :P

My limo ride from the wedding hall in BP to the city was 15 minutes... Minimum for the limo is 3 hours.  :'(

they say that for a reason...
Ask today
Maskim, but it's still pretty high. Most cases they'd do a lot better if they listened to the advice they were given.

I know they might want you to rush things.

Let's just say that al pi Chazal it's pretty clear that first night is ideal (barring extenuating circumstances). If you want to hear my shiur on the subject, you're going to have to ask privately (or better yet, pay for the shmooze...)

Sefardim generally keep this practice. I personally couldn't get to my wife's foot! (She didn't pull it away tho!)

Did not know we had a chosson teacher on hand.  Can we make separate thread?
If you don't care why would you comment?
