If I verbally agree to sell something to someone at a certain price and then the market goes up, am I bound by that original agreement? What about if it was in writing? Whatsapp? Is there a nafka mina between Whatsapp and telegram because I can only delete for 7 minutes in Whatsapp but I have longer on Telegram?

IINM the price went up before one was able to acquire. How does that change things? What if purchase didn't go smoothly and needed to spend more time & effort than anticipated in order to purchase?

I'm going to differ slightly.
You agreed that if you managed to purchase a coin, you would sell it to him.
He doesn't know if you actually bought one or not until you tell him.
If you didn't buy one, you have no obligation to him.
So if you don't tell him, or lie when asked, he doesn't know you're walking away with his coin.  Maybe that's allowed, although not so nice.

I am not a Rov or Posek. (I actually think this would make for a very interesting discussion with a Posek.) Being that he specifically asks you during the opt in to accept terms that say you are committing it to him, it may be different than just a verbal commitment. These things also can depend on the minhag hamokom and accepted general business practice. Next time I have a chance I will run it by a Posek. Either way its a disgusting thing to do, and completely unethical.

If I understand their business model correctly, they don't necessarily know in advance what price the coin will end up at. As a matter of fact in the original email they weren't even sure what the mint selling price was going to be. Obviously they have some idea as to which coins will end up being valuable. I have done deals with them where the household limit was ultimately lifted, and each person can buy as they please, yet they stood by their commitment and paid for the coin, shipping to them, and commission. Its amazing how people expect them to honor their side no matter what, but their own commitment is completely up for negotiation.
