I can't guarantee it will work in all chains the same and 100% interchangeable, there could be regional differences - to be tested.
Based on my personal Safeway experience:
1000 points give you $1 off gallon of gas at Safeway stations nationwide, up to 25 gallons (BEST VALUE)
In some areas discount might work at other gas stations; in my area discount works at Chevron, but it's useless 20 cents.
Once loaded points will expire at the end of the next month - but one should never let it expire as they are redeemable for a free grocery coupons (not like $10 off $25, real free). Value of these coupons are not as good as gas, but you still be ahead of $10 you paid me.
