How I pull my brim up and down? Do you keep your tie pre-made?

Pull hat from side all the way around.
Start from the middle.
Put tie away fully made.
Untie my tie,or my tie will be full of wrinkles.

How do you bend you brim on your hat?/Do you keep your tie made?
« on: September 16, 2018, 02:34:28 AM »
When putting your brim down on your hat do you take your hand from one side to the other side and slide it around to flip your brim down or do you stick both hands into the center of the hat and pull it down by extending both hands outwards?
And the same when you put the Hat brim back up do you slide it with one hand and go all the way around from one side to the next side or do you stick two hands from both sides and have it popped up in the middle( meaning you take two hands and start on the right and left side and slowly go towards the middle?)

Curious to know if one or the other way will cause your brim to become out of shape faster?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you sit there making your tie in front of a mirror and attempting to make it the right height, and finally after 20 attempts you get it right, do you go ahead and untie the tie and put it away on your suit hanger/tie rack?
Or do you do like myself who takes it off my neck and keeps it made that way I don't have to spend 20 minutes remaking my tie the next time I put it on?

Feel free to leave your opinion..

Put the brim down while going from side to side not two hands together. It’s much better for the hat.

Learn how to make a tie better so you don’t have to try 20 times before it comes out good :) but take it out every time...

Was never sure with my hat. Now with my new hat for yom tov I will try to put the brim down like you meantioned vs my old way of using 2 hands from the center.
I assume it's the same for putting the brim back up? One hand all the way around?

Yeh I got to pratice.(re the tie.)
Never got any pratice because for years I kept my tie made ,only pratice I would get is when I got a new tie or if the tie would loose its posture after many uses.

Back up same way. Obviously your supposed to use two hands but one hand stays in the same place while the other hand moves around with the brim.

I mostly do one hand sliding from one side to the other. I think I remember hearing from a hat store that that's the way it should be done. And that you should never leave it bent down for very long.

Bending up I also do from one side to the other. At least that's what I think I do, I never really paid attention to what I do.

+1
That's what I was told when I got my first hat, and have been doing it since.

Also glad to hear I'm not the only one who first remake his tie 10x a day.

Same here for the hat. Tie I usually leave Friday night but undo when done for Shabbos.

To put hat back up: I have a soft hat so just tapping under the front of the brim will push it all back up, so that's what I do.
I'm not who you think I am.

Why would anyone not put the brim down properly (sliding motion)? Easy way to ruin a hat. Unless your Lubavitch, in which case you don’t want to wear a hat that looks to not be ruined.

I wouldn't wear one to anyone's besides a sibling.
Lubabs (other than shluchim who have to) don't do ties. Would look really dumb with our shirts untucked ;)
