I got the wired Ring as well as one of the previous gen stick-up cams on prime day.
The cost for storage isn't ridiculous by comparison:
- Skybell storage is free for 7 days - there is no paid tier
- Amazon Cloud Cam storage is free for 24 hours, 7-days will cost you $70/year for 3 cams
- Nest Charges $50/yr for 5 days of storage - per camera
- Ring's $30/year camera for 30 days is actually a bargain.
The $100 ring tier also includes home monitoring (but I believe that's more for the ring security system) - if you have a home alarm system $100 year for monitoring (including cellular backup) is a pretty good deal.
My real hope - having tried the cloud cams and also ring, is that Amazon will find a way to consolidate feeds from all 3 of its home security lines (Blink cameras being the third - incidentally, they are very different cameras and while storage is free,it's limited to 2 hours of clips per camera) and offer one big plan for all of your cameras.
