Chrysler Pacifica plug in hybrid
« on: September 20, 2018, 10:25:48 AM »
The DDMS post (https://www.dansdeals.com/miscellaneous/1-day-left-buy-tesla-unlimited-free-supercharging/) on Tesla last week got me thinking about plug-in vehicles.

The new Pacifica plug in hybrid seems to be a solid choice. You can get all of the tax incentives and rebates on it. Living in NY would mean about 9500 in gov incentives (until Jan). There is also a 10% EZ-Pass discount and a clean-pass sticker available.

For standard around the community errands, one could use electric only. The gas motor is there for longer trips. Is buying this car a good idea?

Every time I rent a new Pacifica I'm reminded how happy I am that we bought an Odyssey 5 years ago.

Every time I rent a new Pacifica I'm reminded how happy I am that we bought an Odyssey 5 years ago.

Though I've been thinking of starting a thread/poll regarding what the current Jewmobile is. We've seen it go from the Station Wagons with the small benches in the back (Chevy Caprice Classic and its Oldsmobile and Buick counterparts), through the various iterations of the Dodge Caravan (and it's Chrysler/Plymouth counterparts), with the years of Honda Odyssey domination (with some spurts of Toyota Sienna), it seems like the latest Jewmobile is indeed the Pacifica. Though from what I hear from friends, it might have many bells and whistles, but quality/reliability is terrible.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

How big of an issue is that for a lease?

My BIL has/had a Pacifica lease and is extremely unhappy. IINM car is with dealer for service more than he actually has it available to drive.

I'd imagine that Pacifica Hybrid would welcome even more issues. It would be great if one of the Jap minivans offered a plug in hybrid. I venture that most people could easily get away with just using electric only, on most days.

Warranty only means problems will (hopefully) get fixed.

That would be an interesting thread/poll..!
