French Voice Assistant (Google?) for an elderly person

I have an elderly family member who lives in Quebec and therefore speaks French as his primary language. I want to provide him with some form of companionship and the ability to ask simple questions (in French) like: What's today's weather? What's today's date? Tell me some news? I also was hoping to include a video calling feature like, Google Duo (or perhaps Amazon calling?)... Finally, the ability to share pictures.

I purchased the Lenovo SmartView only to learn that it doesn't support French. Google Home does, but this thing doesn't. It does offer Google Duo and Google Photos, but all in English.

Does anyone have thoughts on this?

Google Assistant is more competent at understanding language. I've found this to be true with kids and elderly.

From what I'm reading online it seems that it can handle french just not multi lingual at once...
This device has a built in Google assistant.. multi lingual is supported on devices with no screen..

Definitely. I just didn’t know about French. Being able to figure out multilingual speech is an entirely different level of AI.
