No.
CMIIR,  A inquiry hurts your score with just a few points and it goes back up within a month or 2, having another type of loan will help your score with more just then a few points.
so why isn't worth getting an installment loan?

Because getting an installment loan doesn't really help.

FICO 04 scores ignore installment loans if you have an open CC.

FICO 08 scores will award you points for a mature installment loan that is mostly paid off. Think old mortgage. Once paid off, you lose any points that you gained.

So by not paying it off my score will still be awarded with extra points.

How do you intend to maintain a mature installment loan that is mostly paid off and avoid making payments?

What do you consider a "mature" installment loan?

At least 24 months.

Seriously, don't waste your time. It's not necessary and you can easily achieve FICOs in the 800s for both generations of FICO scores I mentioned with credit cards alone.

So a new installment loan wouldn't do that much?

No.

Focus on building revolving credit and tweaking utilization. That will yield more points.

Is that possible even with a credit history that's only 4-5 years old?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

It's not so hard to have a credit profile older than you are.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

So if a family member has a old BofA CC, I can become a joint account holder now and my CR will update with a multi-year history?

Will this this will give my score a huge jump seeing as my current oldest card is 2 years old?

Also, if the account is currently in good standing, does it matter what the balance on the account was in the past?

Will the other person's general CR affect mine or vice versa? Or only with regards to this particular account?

Sorry for the big list, I'm trying to wrap my head around this...

You will probably get an answer here, but creditboards.com has the answers to pretty much anything.

Make sure he doesn't spend more then 10-20-30 % of his credit line,  if he does then rather don't  become a joint it will only hurt you.

So basically you need a friend who's into credit score.
