I called Experian. (There is a chance that it was showing as open even though the account holder was shut down months earlier.)

Experian told me they would submit request to Amex.

Can definitely do it. I've called all 3 CB and told them to remove all instances where I am an AU, both open and closed accounts

Tell them your not the owner or responsible and they should remove you. Tell the ur disputing it on that grounds.

Called again and they said will start "investigation" with bank to have it removed. Will they require further documentation from me?

Didn't with me. Was gone within a few weeks. Check ur cr today and note the number of accounts. Should drop soon

Who did u dispute with? Experian has 1.00 trial. Use citi virtual card. Other sites have been mentioned here, can't remember offhand

Disputed with all 3. Also one closed Amex account didn't show that I was AU on report, did u have that as well?

The most accurate way to check is to wait until you receive confirmation by mail that it's been removed.
You can use any online service as a secondary check.

Will the banks talk to me if I'm calling about being an AU on an account belonging to someone else? Is there special number? Are they quicker than the credit agencies at removing those accounts from my report?
