Poor example when you are talking about financial institution unless you're talking about Junk Debt Buyers which usually have no documentation to go along with their debts...hence the term Junk Debt Buyers.

I was responding to his question of why this would work.  Not saying that it's at all likely,  but if, for whatever reason,  they didn't have that original document,  it would work.  That said,  yes,  it's a bad example.  :)

Controlling credit card utilization
« Reply #3881 on: February 08, 2018, 06:41:33 PM »
Like all of us here, I have multiple credit cards. However, I haven't gotten around to organizing them yet. They all have different due dates, and I'm also not sure exactly what day my balance is checked for credit utilization purposes.

How do I change the due dates to all be at the end of the month, and how do I confirm exactly what day my balances are checked? Also, if I schedule a payment, but it hasn't gone through yet when they come checking my balance, how does that affect things? It seems like it would be difficult to make sure your account balance is only $1 when you don't know exactly how long the payment will take to register, if that's indeed how it works.

I know chase reports of you pay off your balance. I doubt they report every balance change. What banks are you specifically referring to?

Also this should be in the credit score thread. No need for a new one

Interesting that it's called credit score, as it's largely about credit in general, not credit score pre se.

I wouldn't say that it is many.

Elan reports at the end of the month.  Some credit unions report at the end of the month.

Bank of America used to randomly throw out a mid-cycle report if you maxed your card out.  I haven't heard anyone snivel about it for a long time though, so I'm assuming they ended that.

I had Chase do it close to a year ago, haven't noticed it since.

My current card issuers I have are Discover, Chase, CapitalOne, and Amex.

Assuming statement balance is what's reported, that means I should pay off all my cards at least 3 days in advance, right? To confirm that the payments go through before the end of statement date?

How did you figure out when they checked your balance? Just an educated guess based on what they reported yur credit utilization as? Or they told you specifically when they checked?

Where can you see exact numbers like that in your credit report?

From free credit reports I get from capital one and discover. Is there a free way to check that goes into more detail?
