From free credit reports I get from capital one and discover. Is there a free way to check that goes into more detail?

Have you ever heard Chase do it?

Chase reports mid-cycle if you PIF your total balance.

Chase reports mid-cycle if you PIF your total balance.
So if on the 7th my statement balance is $50
On the 9th I charge $500 to the card it posts on the 11th
On the 15th I pay the $50 balance is that considered PIF and would then report the $500 remaining or would I need to pay $550 in order for it to be PIF?

You think they'd report $0 when in fact your balance is $500?
Also I'm not sure what makes this happen, but I've had them report a balance mid cycle (new card, so wasn't because it was PIF) maybe it's because I maxed out?

No I don't think they'd consider that PIF.

So the option are either they don't report, or they report $500

True. Although on another thread someone seemed to think their reports are inaccurate

No idea.  I've never had Chase report a balance mid-cycle, nor do I see people crying about it on here or CB.

That's how most of the things we consider adverse are found out by the masses...people crying about it online  :)

Just take this board, how many people have Chase cards, how many people have experienced the same thing as you?

How do you know it was a mid-cycle report?  What were you comparing it against?  What gave you the alert?  Was it a new card?  How many times had it previously reported?  Was it maxed out at 100%, 93%, 91%?  Did anything else change on your accounts such as other new accounts, reallocation of credit lines or CLI's?

New card, second time reporting, a week after account opening, just under 90% utilized.

What is order of priorities to raise credit score?

1.  Total balance posted as $0 before closing date.
2.  Total balance posted as under 30% before closing date.
3.  ??

Does it help to pay down total balance to 50% of credit limit?
How close to credit limit do they consider "maxing out" credit cards? (where it will hurt the credit score)
