Actually just went through this, it's not as complicated as I thought. (either I read a different one last time I looked, or more likely I've learnt more since then)

Was nice enough to apply for a credit card so my bro in law can finance his appliances for his new home. That was in 2014 or 2015. Some  time later I realized that he missed a payment for over 30 days. I reminded him and yes yes I'll take care of it and it won't effect your score. Then he did it again!! And of course the account is paid off in full in 2015 but I'm still getting on my credit history 2 late payments/delinquent accounts.
Oh WTH!

Yes. Every time I check it's there and it's really effecting me. I tried talking to the financial company Synchrony Financial but they told they can't change anything.

Not rubbing it in.  Your experience is cautionary for the next guy who reads this.

1. Don't loan money to family that you're not willing to lose or impact a family relationship over
2. If you do loan money and/or cosign where credit is involved, always make sure you get copies of the bill so you can pay it if necessary.   Better yet monthly statements come to you, you pay the lender and make the relative reimburse you monthly.
3. Generally people you have to loan money to or cosign for are broke and/or have bad credit.  So listening to them say "I'll take care if it" or "It won't effect your score" is completely irrational.

first try with the bank as a 1 time courtesy

happens to me 2y ago on a citi also i was late a2or3 days after the due date, i called the number in the back and they were very understanding and took care of it right away. and it was never reported !

Banks generally don't report <30 days
