More like Amex is a joke. Go try to open a Chase card with 31 inquires and report back.

I opened one recently with 30 inquiries. Close enough?

Yes, but the Ink Plus was in the middle of those 17 inquiries within the past 12 months somewhere.

If you close them yourself, they usually don't FR you when reapplying a few months later.
I applied 5 months after closing them myself and was FR'd.
And I kind of expected it since my close family member had the same experience more than once in the past.

How do you apply?

If you're wondering if I know how to get multiple approvals from 1 inquiry, of course I do.

You guys are too scared to call card issuers and recon here. If you know what you're doing, that gets you approvals.

But do you actually do it, or because "pulls are meaningless" you just apply for 1 card at a time and enjoy having more pulls on your report than on a sweater?

I do it when I can, yes.

And no need to be insulting just because you don't understand some things about credit.

I've tried to learn what I can here and share what I know. This attitude from people here about things you DON'T understand is getting old.

So when a recon reps asks "I see you have 15 inquires recently, why are you seeking so much credit?". How should I go about answering?

Chase: I see you've opened up a lot of credit recently. Why do you want the BA card?"

Me: well I had been using my United a lot, but I am planning on flying AA a lot more since they own my local airport. It would compliment my UR cards very well.

Chase: well I do see that you use all of your cards and have a history of making large purchases and paying in full. It also appears that you use all of your cards regularly and didn't stop using them after the signup bonus.

Me: yes, Chase and Amex get most of my business and you'll notice that I don't carry any balances. I hate paying CC interest and manage my cards closely.

Chase: Normally this application would be denied, but since you have a good history with Chase and use all of your cards regularly I am going to approve your application.

That was my last conversation on a Chase recon call after they reviewed my report and application for a few minutes.

I was denied because I have too many new accounts. What would you say? I tried 2 times and then gave up. It was a waste of a pull.
