I have a bad credit score and my wife has a great credit score, my wife is leasing a car would it help my credit if I would co sign the car and will it affect her being approved for the car lease?

Why do you have a bad credit score?  What have you done to improve it?  When's the last time you got paper copies of all your reports?

Is it possible that my credit score dropped 10 points in a month just from a little bit of a higher spending month? Can I check up on that without requesting a credit report? (used my free one this year)

Of course anything can be found out with enough time and effort, but that's under the assumption that serious time and effort is spent investigating people's claims to the CB. I think feds got bigger fish to fry.

Anyway, this discussion it moot. Agree to disagree.
just curious, anyone here said its illegal? i thought the original problem was having to lie?

If I add somebody as an au on a Citi & BofA cc, open for about 10 years & 4 years respectively. Would that boost their credit right away & how long would it take to see the diff?

update: I did it and car still got approved and now have a car lease in my name which is better then a credit card for building credit

i said it

Congratulations on your consigned lease.

But it is in no way better for building credit than a credit card.  The fact that it has increased your DTI and costs you points until it's paid below 20% makes it worse than a credit card in reality.  And when its paid off,  you'll lose the points you gained from the sweet spots.

And how much would it have jumped from a credit card?

First of all,  where did you find your 11 point jump?  Second,  11 points isn't a jump.

is there any reason not to open a few new cc's the day after a house closing (mortgage, credit line, or cc company perspective)? (been holding off on CSR  ;))
