The Amex Mercedes-Benz Plat has been discontinued. All former MP Plat card have been converted into regular Amex Platinums.

The Amex Mercedes-Benz Plat has all the same benefits as the Amex Plat.

Differences:
Annual fee is $495 $475 instead of $450
$100 Worthless gift certificate for in dealership overpriced tchotchkas from Mercedes-Benz
Link (You cannot use the Certificate online)
(Edit from ae123: Overpriced yes, but not worthless....watches, travel mugs, ice bags, caps, etc.)
You can get a $200 reimbursement for some airline spends, once every calender year.
Global Entry $100 Fee Credit - Global Entry is the US government’s expedited immigration program for frequent travelers. It costs $100 and is good for 5 years.

Not sure why you think this is irrational/paranoia
Banks are beginning to crack down on churners (citi is barely churnable now and just a few years it was one of the easiest churns out there). Why would Amex go to the trouble of changing their apps if they're not gonna implement anything?
Hopefully I'm wrong (and so far it appears I am, but this certainly a legit concern)
+1

All these things have the potential to change overnight. Remember when Amex use to match.....
I said its paranoia to think that if the 1st card you signed up for was after they put up the warning, than the 2nd card wouldnt get the points. Even after its been confirmed that after the warning went up the 2nd card went thru, but over there maybe since the 1st card was b4 the warning it worked. if you think thats a legitimate worry your either paranoid or have bad comprehension skills, IMHO.

Anyone tried using someone else's $100 voucher . And if yes were you able to come and use a few of them from all different names?

Each one needs to be signed by the person who's name is printed on the voucher.

Yeah, the real test will be once someone who signed up for a plat after the new T&C language signs up for another one, and if they get the points or not from it.

-1. please logically explain why it would make a difference if the 1st one was after they placed the T&C in a prominent place. The 2nd one can be afterwards, thats been confirmed, IMHO that confirms without a shadow of a doubt that you can do 2 afterwards too. (if you never did one b4, i dont know if its been confirmed churnable 3 times.)

Not sure if you're being sarcastic. But actually, there are some good products. Caps, travel mugs, watches, coolers, etc.

No, I wasn't being sarcastic.  From I've read in this thread the dealerships don't usually have anything for under $100 besides for keychains. I'm glad to hear that the freehold dealership has some worthwhile stuff.

So i went into the freehold mercedes benz with my 100$ cert and although they were pretty snobby to me they had a decent selection.

I got a ok pair of cufflinks (good quality, mediocre design) for 18.00 which i would value at about 15.00

I got a coffee thermos (nothing special) for 25.00 which i would value at about 5.00

And lastly i got a leather bound notebook(nice if you like that sort of thing) for 49.00 which i would value at 35.00

plus 6.48 tax
=98.44

thanks amex.

dunno where you got that from... anyone who said that did so tongue in cheek (even mercedes benz can't get away with selling keychains for $100...)

And then I could use all . Like depositing a second hand check in the bank?

Well yes, everything is overpriced, but it's free with the voucher.  ;D
Travel mugs that usually sell for about $10-$20 sell here for about $35-$55.
Caps that usually sell for about $10-$15 sell here for $18-$22.
Etc.

By the way, you can't combine vouchers. So if you're coming in with two $100 vouchers, you won't be able to buy a nice watch for $150 unless you pay $50 in cash.

Why won't they let you combine certificates? That stinks!

Does anyone have experience with the MB dealer in Manhattan?

I just spent my cert at the MB dealer in Manhattan, what a waste if time! A bunch of overpriced bags, key chains, watches..whatever.

Just curious if they were suppose to charge me tax on the cert?
Imho its not gonna be worth the trip if u don't live there (or will be there anyways) the mb dealer I went to is literally a 2-3 min car ride from me so it was no big shlep but I don't think its worth it to go into manhatten specially for this

Data point:
Signed up for the card in AOR, and forgot that I had one open already. I had thought it was a regular Plat.
I canceled it a few hours after signing up for the new one, and was approved for the new one 2 days later.

Now I have to see if the bonus points will post.

My guess is you will (if you fulfill the spend requirement and your link was good).

They were. Keep the purchase about $90 and the tax will be covered.

I don't know. YMMV. The guy told me they used to allow it but were told by Amex to stop. So my guess is some dealerships may still allow it.

Please correct me if I am wrong, after you apply for this card u only keep it for a max of 60 days so that you dont have a problem with the annual fee?
