I was in GG yesterday and they have now matched those prices, as regular prices not as sale prices, so that’s good news. I still have my receipt from last week where I bought the same potf milk as always 2.59, yesterday suddenly it showed up as 2.39 and the eggs too. So if they cut prices across the board then that’s already great, and that’s only day 1...

It’s really a different model than GG. For instance, if you want gefilta fish there’s 3 or 4 varieties not a dozen like GG. I wanted bread crumbs but they had two options, not the five that GG offers. Costco works that way too and it gives them great leverage for the limited products that they do carry, allowing them to get good pricing from their suppliers, since the product is getting almost exclusive placement on the shelves.

Bingo’s  family pack of salmon was going for 7.99 lb which is a great price but don’t expect tuna, sea bass, or any prepared salmon for that matter. It’s a trade-off; limited selection but better pricing.

So as long as you know what they have and it’s stuff that you need, you’re good.
Will they be making flyers with weekly specials?

Was there tonight. Prices in general looked outstanding (specifics that I remember: Arrid deodorant for 3.49, J2 Pizza for 7.99), don’t know if they’ll last. Big store, very similar to Bingo in Brooklyn and Osher Ad in Israel. I REALLY like it.

They for sure won’t sell Kirkland products but how does Costco feel about them selling Tide, Ketchup and other products that they do sell?
Costco does not have a monopoly with these companies. Think BJs Sams Club, etc...

every register opened. 16 in total. no baggers though

That will is big turn off for many people. I already heard from a few people that were there that they won't be going back bec. of that.

In Brooklyn they get away with it. But in Lakewood where people go shopping with 3 kids under the age of 4, it gets very difficult to bag your stuff.

Why wouldn't a store want to hire baggers? Not having one slows down the line and requires more checkout registers to be open to avoid long lines and slowdowns. How much are they getting paid already?

competition is always good for the consumer. whether pricing, or service it keeps everyone on their toes. and the ones that dont change? alas they fold eventually.
Yes, but then the survivors raise their prices again, etc..

Also I would guess that there are more women that don't drive in BP compared to Lakewood. That's a key consideration when considering delivery service.
A key consideration is being up to par with your competition. In Lakewood, almost every grocery offers delivery. Gourmet glatt, Seasons, Evergreen, NPGS, Super Stop, Aisle 9, Kosher Village, KFS, etc. etc.

It's not just about driving. It's about people not wanting to shlep to the grocery store with their whole family.

Their business model is to offer best price, with no extras. Another example is that they charge 30 cents a box, while other stores don't charge for boxes.

Yet people shop at Costco.

Bingo is differentiating themselves as a wholesale club. Not another grocery or supermarket.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
