Yeah...OU is usually an O, not an opaque circle. I wouldn't.

On their own site they're offering 50% off and 10% for a subscription.

Let's wait until the morning and see what the ou responds to my question regarding this product.

At least the title says Kosher? And assuming most will skim through this thread.

And finally a reply from the company themselves.

Hi there! So sorry for the delay and the confusion. This was our first run of our chips, and we did not realize that (U) symbol was protected by the Orthodox Union.

Our chips are produced in the certified kosher facility called Ideal Snacks in Liberty, NY, using only kosher verified ingredients. However, we have decided not to register with the OU because they have requested that we put their symbol on the front of our package instead of the back and pay them fees, neither of which we can do at this time.

So, our chips are produced under the supervision of the OU because the facility is certified, but we will not be taking steps to get on their official list for those reasons. We have taken that symbol off of our packaging for the future, and while our products are still technically kosher, we understand if you decide not to purchase because we don't have that "official" seal.

All the best,
Squeaky

Maybe we should let them know there are other kashrus agencies in the world who might be more flexible in terms of  those 2 issues.

i wouldn't trust a company who false advertises. doesn't make sense that they are supervised by OU

The requirements from a private panel are not onerous and are very important. A private label needs to have an agreement with the hechsher since they own the labels and can change the location where they manufacture in a heartbeat. Also, factories will sometimes change ingredients for a private label and it needs to be ensured that each specific product is as kosher as is claimed.
Feelings don't care about your facts
