And finally a reply from the company themselves.
Hi there! So sorry for the delay and the confusion. This was our first run of our chips, and we did not realize that (U) symbol was protected by the Orthodox Union.
Our chips are produced in the certified kosher facility called Ideal Snacks in Liberty, NY, using only kosher verified ingredients. However, we have decided not to register with the OU because they have requested that we put their symbol on the front of our package instead of the back and pay them fees, neither of which we can do at this time.
So, our chips are produced under the supervision of the OU because the facility is certified, but we will not be taking steps to get on their official list for those reasons. We have taken that symbol off of our packaging for the future, and while our products are still technically kosher, we understand if you decide not to purchase because we don't have that "official" seal.
All the best,
Squeaky
