Restaurants close together often lift each other up, but this list isn’t exciting, diverse, and even close enough to accomplish that

ועל כל פשעים תכסה ריביות נמוכות

As WB says, "It's when the tide goes out, you see who's swimming naked"

Businesses need to deliver real value and a great customer experience to survive in the long run.

It might be sad, but it's capitalism, and the alternative is the USSR.

Time bump this one.

Hard Disagree.

It is very sad and I feel terrible for the owners and Hashem should help they should recoup what they lost.  Everyone deserves success.

But here is my take. The receipt represented what seared thought the consumer will pay.   $28 or $38 for a bottled water (besides the other expensive items, water was just the most understandably overpriced).   That's what the receipt showed. It doesn't matter if it was a vendor treating their team...  They put in their POS system to charge that.  The consumers, that do spend loads of money elsewhere, felt that this was way ridiculous and inflated prices for no reason.  Therefore the backlash.   And I think most still gave it a chance but weren't wowed enough to make it a success. Don't blame the downfall on the person that shard the receipt.

Either way I feel bad and wish nothing but future successes to the owners and people that lost money here.

Well said. The constant negative messaging against the public is getting way out of hand. A 6k Barnea receipt would not cause this issue. After opening - the menu pricing was more expensive than anywhere I've been, and the value just wasn't there. Example - no free bread. You want bread, you can get a small bagel for $25. One of the apps I ordered was 35% more than similar places, but half the serving size. Makes no sense to spend more than the highest end Manhattan restaurant when the food is not at that level.

I hope the owners recover from this loss.

Lol, someone shared the prices, so they went out of business?
That's quite the leap.

I've seen RC receipts going around and they seem to be doing just fine, even after threatening diners with arrest.

No, 2 separate things. They threatened diners (Dan & JJ) with arrest. And diners shared massive receipts. And they are still doing fine.

He is making it as if the total was the issue and that is not at all the case. People took issue with the individual line items.
