This seems to be a great illustration of Avak Lashon Hara (even if this case may or may not actually have been that) where someone posted something looking to be positive about them and it ended up being taken as a negative to the extent that it seriously hurt them. For those learning CC according to the calendar this was just yesterday and today's limud

I think his main point is, that for a place just starting out if something like that goes viral, it will be very hard to build up a reputation such as this below

Just went to Seared, the food was delicious. Beautiful decor, set up very smartly so it is very intimate but airy. Service was great, more than enough waiters. Food was very special, not typical, but very tasty and hearty. Portion size was generous. Larger menu than places like Tomahawk and Loft. Very well priced at this point. I would say same pricing as Entreé. Didn't order any fancy drinks, although they looked very good.

Was full, so it looks like word got out that it's not crazy expensive anymore. We were very satisfied.

Yeh, that's after the entire menu and pricing was changed. But it was too late. What took them down was their launch completely flopping.

High-end restaurants open all the time. Every single one has to justify their premium pricing or they are doomed to fail. They also need to build up a buzz around them, which they did successfully. But when you do, you need to live up to the buzz, and they fell far, far short.

This had nothing to do with why the closed down. Plenty of people gave them a fair shot even after the “receipt” including myself and were extremely disappointed.

Hard Disagree.

It is very sad and I feel terrible for the owners and Hashem should help they should recoup what they lost.  Everyone deserves success.

But here is my take. The receipt represented what seared thought the consumer will pay.   $28 or $38 for a bottled water (besides the other expensive items, water was just the most understandably overpriced).   That's what the receipt showed. It doesn't matter if it was a vendor treating their team...  They put in their POS system to charge that.  The consumers, that do spend loads of money elsewhere, felt that this was way ridiculous and inflated prices for no reason.  Therefore the backlash.   And I think most still gave it a chance but weren't wowed enough to make it a success. Don't blame the downfall on the person that shard the receipt.

Either way I feel bad and wish nothing but future successes to the owners and people that lost money here.
Well said, though I'll correct you on water, it's $48 for 3 on the receipt, so $16 each.

Further correction - still water was $18 each, sparkling $16. Still ridiculous, but no need for exaggeration.

Not sure if the post is still up, but he intimated that the owners had a vision of what they wanted - however they were a bit naive about the implementation and were taken for a ride by the construction vendors and others.

He's kicking the people who milked the owners. And if true, he has a point.

   54.   Ouris market purchased the old Lidel in Howell.
Ouris- Wish them the best, but I'm shocked.
They purchased, not leased?
They better be super naftuli19 approved upscale.
If not, what justifies the investment after the Moishe's announcement?

Ouri’s is definitely upscale, and they own other property, including in Manhattan, so it’s not surprising. I completely don’t understand the location though.
