Everyone deserves success.
Why?
Everyone deserves empathy, but not everyone deserves success.

When a person comes into a city which has a core base of Yeshivaleit, and which (whether you like it or not) was built around yeshiva, and the person makes a business which is aimed at introducing a level of luxury which is the antithesis of the Kollel lifestyle the city is known for, they don't deserve success in that venture.

I heard from gadol (IIRC, it was Rav Shimshon Pincus, but don't remember for sure) that all the pizza shops in frum communities should close down and the owners should open shoe stores instead. (Obviously, standards have changed tremendously, but back in those days, pizza shops were the face of luxury.)

I wish the owner of Seared much success in his next business as a shoe proprietor, suit salesman, or maybe as a women's car service tycoon.

Ouri’s is definitely upscale, and they own other property, including in Manhattan, so it’s not surprising. I completely don’t understand the location though.
Yeah interesting location is there a Syrian community in Howell i dont know about?  ;)
You can shop in KRM save a few bucks and then hop across to Ouri's and spend what you saved.

No we don’t have a community near howell but this location will probably be their hub as they don’t really have space in deal, manhattan etc. and yes as a Syrian if you go to the ouris in deal in the summer a lot of times you’ll see more ashkenaz ladies from lakewood than from deal.

They purchased the property over a year ago with plans to “one day” open. I don’t think they have any real plans on when they opening.

Well said, though I'll correct you on water, it's $48 for 3 on the receipt, so $16 each.
I didn't remember the details exactly as I saw the receipt a long time ago.  Point still stands

But that Kollel, Yeshiva concept can be applied to many businesses. Obviously that ship has sailed in this town. Go to any new shopping center.  All high end luxury

Not when that yeshiva encouraged the growth of high end luxury. Let's face it, BMG has a huge rule in this. Those rich balebatin also support BMG.

When you say "The Yeshiva" are you referring to the masses of yeshivaleit and their roshei yeshiva, or a few yechidim who think they are spokesmen for the yeshiva?

Which is part of the problem.
From the little that I know, I’ve heard the leases in these plazas are crazy expensive.
So the store owners have no choice but to charge a lot.

I have to say, there's a point to be made.
The contractor, designer, and kitchen designer, all got paid. and very well from the sound of it. Did they not think it was within their duty to tell the owner, STOP. DO NOT PUT 4 MILLION DOLLARS INTO A RESTURANT? the subs were all locals. they know whats going to fly and what not. If they wouldve spent 700k, they would be in a very diff situation now. the prices would have never started where they orignally did.

Tell him stop? Who got him to spend all that if not the designers and contractors?

What was mentioned about needing to replace a bunch of kitchen equipment because the chef didn't like it is entirely on the proprietor for equipping the kitchen without consulting with the chef.
