The best time to purchase tickets to Israel for summer 2019

I am planning on using my chase ultimate rewards points to purchase tickets for my family for this coming summer (2019).  The tickets recently went on sale - but they are very pricey - over $1500 (only stopover flights cheaper were $1200 via Ukraine or Turkey which we don't want to do).

Will the tickets go down in price?  how long should we wait to purchase.  (At these prices I am currently short on points)

in general You can get cheaper, especially if you don't mind stop overs

Presuming you are flying from the East Coast, and presuming you have a little flexibility in dates, I would wait.  My goal would be a non-stop RT under $1200 for summer, and a one-stop under $1000.

According to skyscanner.com the best time to book is around 5 months in advance.
I would agree with @zow with just one caveat if you see a price that is in the ballpark of what your looking for grab it and dont look back. The prices always fluctuate up and down and you'll never ever know if your getting the best best price but if you have a certain amount your willing to spend and the price gets close to that number then take it.

Not sure about US-TLV. But TLV-US was usually cheapest around the beginning of May. I’ve been monitoring summer tickets for a few years, and that’s when it seems to be cheapest.

Yeah Usually if not always JFK is the cheapest.
However - not sure exactly where your coming from but if your coming from somewhere close to PHL sometimes they have some good deals to Israel ( with a stop obliviously).

If you want to fly direct the only options are Delta (JFK), United(Newark), and ElAL (Both)

I flew last summer during end of june beginning of July - $1398 booked May 9th, that was the cheapest flight at that point could have been cheaper booking a little bit earlier, if i remember correctly delta at that point was the most expensive of the three

The way it looks now if there no specific sale, it will only become more expensive.
I just booked for a customer a few tickets for $1580 with a Anytime cancellation policy for the slight chance that prices go South instead of North..
