I had AA Platinum MasterCard that I downgraded a year or two ago to Bronze. I want to apply for the 75K AA Visa and Amex offers now... do I need to cancel the bronze MC first, or can I leave it open?

If I apply for the signature card, but get approved for the gold card. Do I still get all the benefits and sign up bonus?

New offer: Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Card, 50k points
« Reply #26 on: April 02, 2014, 04:52:14 PM »
I found this offer for Citi Hilton Card on TechBargains, is this better/ worse than Amex card, it's giving 50k as opposed to normal 40k bonus? I don't have a hilton card yet and I think this is a good offer.

Another question, does Citi do a hard credit pull like Chase or are they easy as Amex. I did not get approved for Chase Hyatt, or Sapphire, since i do not have enough credit payment history, but with Amex i had no problem getting approved for Delta and Blue Cash. How is Citi's credit pull?

Welcome to the forums. Could be this Q has been discussed before, although I haven't searched to find out, but I was wondering the same thing.

In terms of pulls - every cc app comes with a hard pull - doesn't matter what bank it is. You just had better luck with AMEX than Chase. You should still HUCA Chase to get approved.

Thanks Yehuda! Anyone else have advice for me?? I currently have Starwood preferred, and Hyatt card. If I do 4 stays within 90 days I can have hilton gold status, then I'm thinking of using that to obtain a status match with Hyatt, and spg. Am I making any sense??

I see that the card is now offering 60K. Is this card better than the reserve or should I rather apply for the reserve instead

Which card is offering 60K?

And no, 60K is far worse than the current Reserve card.

Of course! You get a 100 dollar statement credit in addition to the free nights.

The 100 credit is only after you spend 100 at a hilton location.
Also is this card worth it to keep past the initial offer?

In my eyes, it's a free 60k hilton points and no annual fee...

10x points at Hilton Hotels, that's about it.  Even then, it depends on how much you value Hilton Hhonors points.

Unless you place a high personal value on HH points, it's a waste of a Citi app.

It depends.
The card gives you HH Gold status.  I've got upcoming stays at Hiltons where Gold will come in handy, and I'll use it for an upcoming Hyatt Diamond challenge this fall when I'm staying at the PH Paris Vendome and PH Maldives.  So for me, the annual fee is more than worth it this year.  I doubt I'll keep it beyond this fall, though.
