C1 is also terrible with product changes to non AF cards, AFAIK it doesn't exist
Also they don't let you exceed the credit limit, which means that if you get a low limit you are likely not to make the spend requirement

They do allow product change. I’ve done it myself in a 30 second phone call.

So what are we thinking in terms of market value here? Do any of the transfer options come out to more than 1 cpp once the transfer rate and target mileage market value is factored in?

You'd need to sell (the 2:1.5) for 1.34+ to make it worth not redeeming for 1cpp towards travel.

2000 @ 1.0 = $20
2000:1500 @ 1.34 = $20.1

Lol, I don't need a math lesson, that part is simple. The question is more to do with the market rates of the various transfer partners.

Everyone on the list (other then Finnair and Hainan) is either with Amex or Citi, so those market rates should be max, no?

And even for that, will also depend on if non-matching names can accept transfers (as online, you can't select to anyone other then primary AH).

Good point. Since those currencies rarely go above 1.35 it would be a wash at best.

Yes if you have your own travel category purchased being done on the card (or are okay redeeming for gift cards).

If you don't have any travel categories being booked on the card (to redeem the points for) and need to sell the points as travel at a discount (say to a broker / travel agent), the math changes.
If you sell at 10% discount ($2k booking for $1.8k), the transfer ratio equivalent would be 1.2, so you come out ahead getting the Amex/Citi rates (1.3+).
