Have you sold on Plastic Jungle?
« on: August 28, 2011, 06:26:18 PM »
I am thinking about buying some GCs and selling them on plastic jungle for a small loss in order to spend 9k on two *wood cards.  I am wondering if I am likely to sell my cards on there if there are already 40 or 50 cards for this store.  I don't want to undercut the current seller if I don't need to.  Anyone know how fast cards will sell if they are for a major retail chain?

I've sold many gc's to pj. The way it works is they buy the card from you and pay at time of purchase (they have a number of different payment options,  e.g. paypal, check by mail.) Then the card goes up for sale on their site-- it has nothing to do with you if it selks or not. They paid you already and it is now owned by them. Since it is being sold by them, they choose the selling price, as therefore there is no sych thing as you going ahead and undercutting somebody else.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any additional questions.

Keep in mind when they lets say sell a gift card at 5% less they need to be making money on it so they are paying less for them.
A $50 Target gift card sells for 3% off at $48.50.
You have the option of either getting an Amazon gift card for $47.78 or check/paypal for $45.50.
Also if I were you spread out where you buy gift cards from they dont always take gift cards for all stores

no you 'upload' tpo your bank account. Square is an app that processes cc transactions and charges 2.75%. you get the app, link to your bank acct, then 'charge' your gc.

Now that you've explained what u meant,  wat does that have anything to do with the op's question?? Plastic jungle doesn't buy or sell amex gc's.

How can you verify beforehand how much you can get for the GC of a particular store. For example, if I have a bunch of choices of which store's GC I want to receive and then sell on PJ, how would I know without having the GC number how much I'd be able to get for it. It says "up to X%" but that's not very clear.

By starting a process to sell cards to them, you should get the exact info.

I too have encountered this - that I need to enter a giftcard number in order to get a quote. But there are other sites out there that give a quote without the number - for example: https://www.giftcards.com/merchant/sell_card.html. But I don't know how their rates compare.

That sounds more accurate

I don't have a GC yet, and it asks for a gift card number before showing you a price. I'm looking in to which GC's I can get from Discover points that would net the most cpp. For example, you can redeem $40 in Discover points for $100 in Hyatt GCs which PJ says they'll pay up to 87.15% on. If they pay that full % that would be almost 2.2 cpp, a good haul for Discover points.

I'll check out some other sites, I guess.
