Just got my VIN assigned, ordered 9/15.
Will call to push off, let's see how it goes.
So I texted to delay delivery, and got the following 2 responses:
“As our system is designed to provide you with a vehicle as soon as possible, we can (as a one-time courtesy) release this VIN from your account and ask the system to locate another in a timely manner. Note: the system operates automatically, and will attempt to locate a new VIN in the coming weeks. If you require more time, this reservation may be cancelled (per Tesla's Order Agreement) and a new order may need to be placed with delivery in 2022. Please let us know if you'd like us to release this VIN from your account to allow the system to move forward with a replacement VIN shortly.“
“We can push your order to Jan 1, but this vehicle would be released and you would be subject to wait times at that time. Please advise how we can assist!”
If I’m understanding correctly, seems like I have 2 options.
1. Release VIN, will get new VIN assigned whenever
2. Don’t release VIN, delay order to Jan 1st, and delivery still may get delayed after that.
Am I understanding it correctly? If I want it later- I would choose option 1?
