Would have to drive a ton to need to plug in every night. I plug in once a week. That takes all of 5 seconds.

Even in the winter???

The winter range penalty is exaggerated. Maybe it's 10 or 15%.

Really? Maybe it's worse on the S  (or you keep your car freezing). In my father's experience its more like 30%. Loads of reports online of close to 50% in cold areas.

He keeps the heat on? Meh. Heats up very fast. Can start the heat 2 minutes beforehand via the app and it'll be fine.

Regardless - My point is there are great deals on other vehicles that make it hard for me to drive something that may even be better. In no way is a tesla a better financial option for me for a performance car that can get to 60 in under 5 seconds.

If you need to have a new car every 3 years and lease, sure.
Personally I'm perfectly happy riding out my M3 for years to come and eventually sell it.

What I love about the M3 isn't just the acceleration though. It's the clutter free cabin, the fantastic app that means I go key-free, the instant torque, etc.
No reason not to try it out for a week and see for yourself. Good MS opportunity too ;)

Especially since there’s a dealership almost walking distance from my house . I’m just not around when they’re open.

Here's a prediction:
In thirty years all current major car companies will be gone, besides the very few which realize how much they have to change to stay in the market.
I'm not who you think I am.

Or cheap out on the 7 series. They’re just about giving those away 😂
7 depreciates like crazy, bought mine x drive M package, 3 years ago at $112000 and it is worth less than half today. Plus too many problems, just ran out of warranty and spent close to $8000 and there were 2 class action law suits where BMW paid $12800 to fix the engine for oil consumption, stay away, unless you only lease or sell as soon as warranty expires.

Was toying with getting myself a tesla, but hard to turn down a loaded bmw 540/440 for 3-400 with 0 due at signing
$300 with $0 down does not exist, unless you got a super deal, the best I see is $400 and over.

I'm not exaggerating.

60k MSRP 440 - $350 with 0 DAS (10k/36m)
40k MSRP base model 3 - $399 w $5594 DAS = $554
56k MSRP 3 LR w/ EAP - $653 w $5848 DAS = $815

And it's always better to lease w 0 DAS since if the car is totaled, stolen, or you want to trade it, you will lose the DAS. Tesla (online) doesn't let you decrease DAS.
Can you please pm me where did you find this deal and if it is still current? 60k MSRP 440 - $350 with 0 DAS (10k/36m)Thanks.

Not hard at all. I would have a very hard time going back to ICE at this point. Driving the Tesla is a real joy, everything else else feels like a cheap toy.
I'm sure one day there will be real competition, but Tesla has quite the lead.

Why not take a 7 day trial before the credit is halved?
the 7 day trial is completely string free?

Yes.
Thanks! Ya, I was under the impression if one did a test drive they were not eligible, looking around online seems like they changed that a few months ago.

So now he's definitely ordering the model 3 - the big question remains if he should upto the performance or not. @Dan you said you felt that it was not worth 10k, for him though he definitely likes the look of the 20 inch wheels better (though obviously if one is price conscious it will cost more over time). Also those red breaks look real hot:)

One big thing I'm thinking is that I wonder (gonna research this now) if the Non performance long range has more range, I see that they all say 310 miles, but I know that they played with the #s a bit so people wouldn't just not go with the performance.

Have loyalty and $3000 for a lease or a purchase from a CAS.
