I just ordered the Model 3 in NJ . so MSRP is $40k, minus $5k EV Rebate. now if Federal Gov't introduces a $7500 rebate before i get it delivered (Feb) would I be able to double dip? or both go by time of order, or time of delivery.  $40k vehicle for $27.5k would be quite a good deal :)

You can always delay delivery, but as an FYI it is unlikely that any credit will apply to this tax year due to reconciliation rules. Will likely be 2022, and I think it's very likely that something will happen in 2022 as D will not want to waste a reconciliation attempt and will also not want to risk losing control of govt. EV is a big priority.

Not sure. But be careful because their website says they are 88% through funding. My guess it is 88% from the lifetime of the program (including last year) and that they plan to release additional funding at a future date, but they always can stop giving credits on a dime.

no, based on order date.
I placed my order in June and got delivery in August and didn't qualify.
The current funds availability takes into account a reserve for orders. So if you place your order now, your NJ $ should be locked in (probably not guaranteed). This is based on info from Tesla rep and wording on the website

I Thought so. I guess time will tell, but if I can double dip then this is a no brainer
